Runner's World Shoe Lab Test Results
Adidas Climacool: $100
This is the first update of the most ventilated shoe on the market. The Climacool's niche is as a highly cushioned shoe with ventilation through the upper, sockliner, and even the outsole. The new version has an even more "skeletal" upper, which uses open vents to pull greater amounts of air through to cool your feet. The soft, cushy midsole of the Climacool remains virtually unchanged. Our wear-testers found the shoe light and airy, and liked the smooth heel-to-toe transition. One change that turned off some was the venting under the second and the third toe in the forefoot. Wear-testers didn't like the "hollowed out" feel under the toes at toe-off.
Essential technology: adiPRENE cushioning pads

Weight: (m) 12.8 oz.; (w) 10.9 oz.

Bottom line: The Climacool retains its position as an unique warm-weather shoe because of its highly ventilated upper, which allows air to circulate through the upper (rather than be trapped by it). If you liked the first version of the Climacool, you'll probably like this one even more.

I find the heel too cushy - I am getting calf strain while running. I have never suffered from this before and nothing has changed except the shoe. I also find that it is a wide in the forefoot, although the arch fits fine. .

poor. the side vent rubs against the side of your foot and if you are not wearing thick enough socks will give you a bad blister. I have logged 185 miles in them and they are now shot! .
