Some of the New Balance shoes are getting wider and beefier. Last spring's 855 is a good example of the trend, and so is the 765. An update of the 764 (one of the mainstays of the New Balance line), the 765 didn't undergo a radical transformation, but there are several important changes.
The Abzorb cushioning is larger and covers the entire forefoot (it protrudes on the medial side), which increases cushioning. However, some of our wear-testers thought the softer material didn't provide a firm enough platform for toe-off. The rest of the midsole is heavier and more substantial than the 764. But the biggest change is the fit, as the 765 has an even roomier forefoot and toebox than did he 764.
Bottom line: The changes New Balance made to the 764 are certainly noticeable. Some runners will appreciate the wider fit and more cushioned forefoot, while others--especially loyalists of the 760 series--may not.

This is the first shoe I had ever been professionally fitted for and love it. I am in the process of purchasing my 4th pair. I have owned the 761, 763, 764 and I am in the process of buying the 765. They made training and completing of my first marathon a success. My son has just completed his 1st year of Cross Country wearing the 764 with no complaints.
The only complaint I have is the shoe is hard to find in my small town area. Sometimes getting out of town is worth the extra mile!!!.

These shoes are the best running shoes I have ever worn. They provide great support for my overpronating feet. I will definitely keep wearing these for as long as New Balance makes them! Plus, they look nice too! ;-).

I have never written one of these reviews but this shoe is worth mentioning. I have enjoyed training in this shoe so much for the marine corps marathon, i just bought my second pair for the halfs I am getting ready to do. this shoe is great because it is so roomy in the toe and heel area. I no longer feel like my toes are cramped, especially when they start swelling. moreover, i have a bunion problem on the side of both big toes, and the soreness that usually results is minimal after a run in my 765s! I highly recommend a trial of them,.
