New Balance has increased this update's flexibility by removing a layer of rubber from the forefoot flex grooves. A longer midsole post, also new, makes the 768 more stable than the 767. Another welcome addition is the internal liner that backs many of the upper seams with mesh to reduce blisters and hot spots. A less-welcome change is the $5 price increase. Recommended for runners with low arches looking for a durable everyday trainer.

"These shoes are very stable, firm and fit snuggly to my foot." --Caroline Wasielewski, 33, Allentown
"Both the forefoot area and the heel felt a bit on the wide side. I had to lace the shoes pretty tight in order to get a snug fit." --Doug Hochstetler, 41, Allentown

I am so disappointed with the 768. I cannot believe they are made by NB. They are so are so stiff I get shin splints with them. I always ran in NB because they took the shock out of running. Not these shoes. I am going to contact New Balance and see if they will give me a better shoe. $95 plus tax down the drain!.

I have been running in the 767 for about a year and it has been a great shoe. The 768 has changes that make it a bad shoe for me, the deeper wide flex grove in the forefoot causes pain in the ball of my foot, and the fewer lace holes, and different heel overlays make for an overall less stable feel..

I agree with the previous review. The NB 768 lacks all the features that I loved about NB 767. Very disappointing..

I ran 4 marathons last year in the NB 767. Those shoes rock! I recently purchased the NB 768 and after my first run (a 10 miler) I hated those shoe. The ball of my feet hurt the entire run and the inside of both heels had blisters. My brand new NB 768 are now retired after 10 miles - a total waste of money. But my feet are too important to wear uncomfortable (painful) shoes. Does anyone need a size 12?.
