The updated Thiella is perfect for runners who do a combination of on- and off-road running. It incorporates deeper outsole lugs for added traction in the dirt and a screen that sits below the heel cushion unit to provide protection from sharp rocks and roots. RW Shoe Lab tests found the Thiella to have the stiffest forefoot and one of the firmest heels in this guide. Recommended for bigger runners with normal arches who want a waterproof shoe for cold, wet winter runs.
"A true hybrid, offering aggressive traction and a firm sole with plenty of cushioning." --Kortney Whitmyer, 26, East Lansing
"I began to see some outsole wear after 125 miles." --George Tubon, 40, San Diego
"The GoreTex material kept my feet dry throughout a run in the rain. The traction was poor after the shoe got wet. When I came in from my run I slipped numerous times on concrete." Angela Formaz, 27, Allentown
"This is an excellent off-road shoe because it is so stable. It is a great wet weather shoe because of the GoreTex. My feet stayed dry. I would make the tongue more flexible. It rubbed the front of my shin raw." Tara Weaver, 35, Allentown
