Runner's World Shoe Lab Test Results
The updated Kinsei has a redesigned transition bridge that runs back into the heel to hold the gel units in place and extends forward on either side of the forefoot. This eliminates the feeling of falling off the heel cradle many runners experienced with the first Kinsei. The addition of Gel in the forefoot is another smart improvement, giving this update a softer feel. As the heaviest shoe in this guide, the drawback of the Kinsei continues to be its weight. Recommended for runners with normal to low arches looking for a durable, albeit expensive, everyday trainer.
Wear Tester Reviews
"I've never run in a shoe with a heel fit that's as snug or as high as this." --Cathy Brogan, 44, Allentown

"Instantly comfortable, but they felt stiff on the road." --Jef Mallett, 45, East Lansing

"I appreciated the snug heel and loose forefoot, but I could probably wear a 1/2 size smaller than usual. I must wear thicker socks because of the wide midfoot and forefoot." Brian Hendricks, 35, Allentown

"These are a touch heavy, but I guess this is from the amount of gel in the heel." Joe O'Donnell, 31, Allentown

This is a HUGE improvement over the first iteration of the shoe. While the shoe still is heavier than it could be, it feels great to me with much improved flexibility and cushioining. If Asics could find some way to put it on a diet, I would give it 5 stars..
