We Say: The 1223 comes with better cushioning than its predecessor, thanks to a soft layer of foam over the midsole and a section of durable foam in the heel. Our tests showed the 1223 is lighter and more flexible than the 1222, so we've moved it from motion-control to the stability category. Make no mistake, though, the 1223 still has plenty of support. We recommend this shoe for average to bigger runners with low arches looking for a good combination of support and cushioning.

I have been running in NB since the 1221 and when the 1222 came out there were only improvements to the cushioning and overall fit. But when the 1223 were redesigned with a narrower heel, and cheaper liner, I starting getting major blisters on my inside heel where my foot was rubbing on edge of the liner. Thankfully my running shoe store took them back and I was able to swap them for a Saucony Hurricane 10. Perhaps NB will fix this in the next iteration. .

The NB1223 is stable, has sufficient cushioning and very, very comfortable both for short and long runs. A highly recommended all-around shoe..

I have been nothing but disappointed with this shoe. I was running 40 miles a week with the 1222 and this shoe does not offer me the same support or comfort. I immediately developed shin splints and also heel blisters after only a couple of runs. .
