Runner's World Shoe Lab Test Results

WE SAY: New Balance updated the 1061 with a last (foot form) that is narrower in the heel and slightly broader in the forefoot. It also features a seamless liner to reduce blister risk. Another smart improvement: a layer of foam under the sockliner for a softer feel underfoot right out of the box. Because it's the stiffest shoe in this guide, we recommend the 1061 for bigger runners with normal to high arches looking for plenty of cushioning and a firm base of support.

Wear Tester Reviews

Great shoe, extremely comfortable, especially for wide & high arch foots and long distance training. I run about 50 miles per week and I use them for all types of training, distance, speed and easy runs..

Good pair of shoes. Has a lot of foot-space that is necessary after a long run when feet are slightly swollen. Great impact absorption. Rate it a 5/5. .

Outstanding shoe! I have about 45 miles on the shoe; fits snug, excellent cushion, and have never had blisters - the ride is awesome. I run about 16 - 20 miles per week, 185 lbs, 6"1. I have started training for my first marathon this week and this shoe is going to take me there - would recommend this shoe to anyone. .

I am too a big guy (240 lbs.) and these shoes are great! I used another brand for about 3 months when I decided to take up the sport and thought this was the way it was supposed to feel. Boy was I wrong. Along with the snug fit in the heel, the cushion is really great. --Arnold Garza, 37, Alice .
