Runner's World Shoe Lab Test Results

We say: Avia made this update extra durable by adding a rubber cushioning pad under the heel and a carbon-rubber outsole to guard against tread wear. To help reduce impact, the shoe has cutaway sections in the heel that allow the midsole to compress downward. Yet, while our Lab tests showed the Tuned Trainer to have average cushioning, it's one of the most flexible shoes in this category, which makes it ideal for average to lightweight runners with normal to high arches looking for a durable shoe.

Wear Tester Reviews

Wear-testers say: "The heel cushioning is good, but the arch area needs to be more snug."--Ryan Suarez, 18, San Diego

"The forefoot could use cushioning, but I liked the shoe's flexibility."--Janice Trudgen, 50, East Lansing
