Nov 2006 Shoe Guide
We say: This is similar to the Road Plus III we reviewed in our March guide, with a few important additions. Most notably, it has been outfitted with a Gore-Tex XCR upper that uses fewer overlays than the previous version to help reduce blister risk. The RW Shoe Lab showed this to be one of the most firm and least flexible shoes in the guide. Recommended for runners with normal to low arches who live in cold or wet areas and need a shoe with good stability that will keep their feet dry.
Wear-testers say: "Very stable on all surfaces, good traction, but the arch area needs better support."--Brooke Migdall, 26, San Diego
"While a comfortable shoe, they felt heavy."--Guadalupe Gonzales, 21, San Diego
