This new USATF cerrtified 8K course winds thorugh the neighborhoods around the Fairfax County Government Center. Race is held on the grounds of the Celebrate Fairfax! Festival. Alternative House is the Abused and Homeless Children?s Refuge located in Fairfax County. Alternative House was founded in 1972 and has been doing good work in Fairfax Count on behalf of teens and young people for more than 35 years. We provide support to at-risk children, youth and families through counseling, shelter, crisis intervention and neighborhood outreach. Alternative House has an emergency shelter for young people ages 13-18. Each year we help 200 teens. Other programs include street outreach, the staffing of the Culmore Teen Center, afterschool programs, support on suspension programs, and our Assisting Young Mothers program. Your participation can make a difference in the life of an adolescent who needs support and guidance.
