When is your favorite time to run?
I'm an early morning runner, but if I can't go out in the morning I like to go when the sun is setting. Coming from Southern California I'm spoiled by good weather. It helps to motivate me and gets me outside. I love to just be in the sun, soaking it up. I'll take off my shirt to get a tan at the same time. It just feels good. It's harder for me to motivate when it's 32 degrees out.

Where's the most unusual place you've run?
When I'm home in San Diego I like to run around a golf course and—it might sound crazy—the cemetery, where my uncle and aunt are buried, because it's hilly. But I like mixing it up and run different routes, like along the beach.

How do you dress to run?
I always wear bright-colored shorts, like red ones, I guess because I feel I'm going to get hit. I always have a headband that I made by cutting up an old T-shirt. Without the headband my hair would get in my eyes. It's funny because people ask me, "Hey, where did you get that cool headband?" And it's just an old T-shirt.

What's your PR?
My best time is from about 15 years ago. I did a half marathon in about 1:48. It was right after I'd spent a month in wrestling camp in Oregon, so I was in really good shape.

Do you ever get recognized?
Occasionally I get recognized when I'm out for a run, just because I've appeared on so many shows, like Entertainment Tonight, for Dancing with the Stars, and even for Saved by the Bell [his first regular TV show, in the early '90s].

Running is my alone time. I have people around me all the time, all day. The only time I have alone is when I'm running, or when I'm at church. Running's easier to fit in.
