RAVE RUN: NA PALI COAST STATE PARK, KAUAI, HI

PUBLISHED 08/01/2005

Location: Na Pali Coast State Park, Kauai, HI

The Experience: The 11-mile Kalalau Trail twists its way through the tropical forest above the Na Pali coastline, one of Hawaii's most beautiful and remote regions. "The trail is steep and narrow, so it's a really tough run," says Coscino. "But if you go early in the morning and stop at mile two, you'll have the white sands of Hanakapi'ai Beach all to yourself."

For more information about hiking trails on the island of Kauai, contact the Department of Land and Natural Resources at hawaii.gov/dlnr. More information on the Na Pali Coast State Park is available at hawaii.gov/dlnr/dsp/NaPali/na_pali.
