Landice L8 Cardio
$4,695 / Programs: 16
Simply put: The L8 can take a pounding. While many of the other units in this review are made from steel, the L8 is constructed from super-strong, aircraft-quality aluminum--delivering durability that's ideal for runners who push their equipment to the limit. One 6'3" tester echoed other testers' thoughts in his appreciation of the longer belt (63 inches versus 60) to accommodate his stride. While it was easy to use, the L8 took some criticism for its small display. landice.com; 800-526-3423

Life Fitness T7-0
$4,500 / Programs: 22
Life Fitness clearly put a lot of thought into what people look for in a workout. While its belt is 60 inches by 22 inches, you can, as with the True, adjust the cushioning levels. And of the units we tested, the T7-0 boasts the most programs, perfect for runners who crave variety in their workouts. Plus, the T7-0 has the ability to store custom workouts for four different users. Some testers, however, did feel overwhelmed with the breadth of program options. lifefitness.com; 888-348-4543
