TOILETS AT A RACE

PUBLISHED 06/05/2008

Toilets are especially important to your race. Runners will be drinking a lot of water and will inevitably need to make a pit stop at some point during the event. It is recommended that you have at least one toilet per every 50 registrants. If you are planning on using facilities at indoor locations such as parks, malls, etc., make sure that you have permission, that the toilets are in working order and stocked with the necessary supplies, and that they will remain open for your race.

If you have portable toilets, make sure they are unlocked when set up and that they are in a level area, at numerous spots among the race area. If you race is a 10k or longer, plan to have toilets at least at the half-way mark of the race. Half marathons and longer should have toilets at several intervals along the course. Place signage to direct runners to them in registration and on the course.
