RACE PERMITS

PUBLISHED 06/04/2008

You will need to have permission from various entities in order to hold you race. You may need more than one permit, so be sure to research thoroughly and apply early (several months in advance) to allow for processing. These bodies may require documentation, fees, maps, etc., so be prepared to do a little legwork in order to furnish the materials necessary. Permits may be required from:

1) Municipality (if race is run on local streets)
2) County (if race is run on unincorporated areas)
3) State
4) Police
5) Sheriff
6) Park district
7) School property
8) Department of transportation
9) U.S. Coast Guard
10) Officials from other jurisdictions the race may pass through
