10/24/2006 DRYER PLEASED WITH CHICAGO PERFORMANCE

After her debut marathon this American champ is looking to qualify for two Olympic events

PUBLISHED 10/24/2006

Elva Dryer, a 2004 U.S. Olympian in the 10,000, seemed utterly pleased with her marathon debut in Chicago Sunday, as she was the top American woman with a 2:31:48 for 12th place. The encouragement of that effort leaves her with multiple options as she attempts to qualify for the 2008 Beijing Games. "I'd like to pursue (more marathons) and definitely want to run faster," Dryer commented after her Chicago race. "I hope that by 2008 I'm in a position to have a good 10,000 qualifier on the track as well as an Olympic (marathon) qualifier and then make a decision." Dryer added ''I learned that the last 10K can be brutal. I do have some things to work on in terms of my training and preparation, but now I have the experience.''
